Builder's Journal Entry, Date AD-1-8-2014, Hahira region of planet Earth, Sol Galaxy.
I have been... Sooo.. out of date with this thing it's impossible to make excuses other than:
I've had other things to do, get done, worry about, deal with, build, shoot, and blow up. Some of it personal, a bit of it professional, and a lot of whateveritiseveryoneelseneedsbutthatsastoryforanotherday.
The Farm:
Family Farm priority. 2013 has been one Helluva Year. We've expanded our operation taking on more land to work, benefiting our cows with more edible hay. As such we've made some additions to our fleet: a new mower, a tedder, restored-to-factory-spec tractors, and a feed wagon. My truck, "The Wrecker" is going to get a breaking module installed. For the novice, that's a device that allows me to use a trailer with an installed break (like the one I'm already towing) as an anchor when I'm hauling hay. (now about that trans-luminous drive I wanted...)
Out in the hay fields, we've been in a disagreement with Mother Nature as to our schedules. What we normally cut in July, we cut in September, and so forth so stalled, but at least we made adequate amounts of rolled hay for the herd, and with our growing reach of land we should be seeing more in the year to come.
Not my fault, but it has been one of our worst years of mechanical problems since before we stopped having paid farm-hands that broke everything. A couple of blown hydraulic seals due to wear and tear are manageable fixes, but losing a whole PTO shaft to a hay mower is a completely different clusterfu...
As said a few lines ago, the tractor is fixed but that mower's dead. At least its parts are salvageable and compatible with the one I have been using. Dibs on the guide wheel!
The cows herd has grown, both in body weight, size and number. 20 years ago we started with 6, and now we're over 72. This past year alone I've had to assist/intervene/aid in the delivery of several calves and bring a couple back from the brink of malnutrition. Our hybrid calves are growing, and the two I had to bolster are fantastic replacements to our older herd.
The Building:
It has been a good year on the hobby desk, a little slower than I had planned but, nobody's perfect. Reviewed some of my best works to date on CollectionDX.com and got myself on an episode of the site's weekly YouTube TV show:
Don't mind my face. and if you're wondering what I'm doing, I was jumping between following along with to what Josh and Adam are talking about and building a pair of bazookas for the RX-78-2 Version 3.0.
generalmechanics.deviantart.co…
I still say I sound better in print.
I finally sat down to count my manuals for an accurate tally on how many I've built. Without counting Kotobukiya, Tomy Zoids, and random things I think would look cool. I have officially as of this journal completed 202 Gunpla! and I have no plans of stopping.
Drawing... that's another story for another day.
So with all of that cluttering the screen, I just want to say Happy New Year to all, and wish everyone a healthy and happy start to 2014!
Stay crafting my friends.
Rob!
