"Hello DA!!!! GM's back in town!! AAAAHHAAHAHAHAAHAAHAHAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

...Technically... I've been swamped in real life for a number of very demanding reasons, and so I have not been working on my open kit projects but I wanted to leave you with a taste of something I've started.

In between saving the world and keeping the peace in the land of Gunpla and Cattle, I have been stacking up my 'Backlog of Infinite Awesome' with some really special and grandiose kits as well as a few of Bandai America's latest attempt at making model building relevant in America again: "SPRUKITS!"
Despite what little the line has to offer, I'm very excited about these models. Bandai isn't feigning us with gimmicky, simple-build-and-play model kits. These are Gunpla Grade!

The whole 'no tools part; I'm not a fan of shearing plastic. Though to the process's credit, one clean swipe with an x-acto knife will sever the parts just fine.

As for the kits, I have the Level 2 and 3 Master Chief models and with a TRU discount offer I got the Level 1 Joker model which you see here.

While I haven't started building it yet, I can say the model looks easy enough but there is some real work to do with painting and detailing.

Because he's a level 1 model, the Joker is one of the more simplistic kits in its overall execution but the head is is superbly designed with separate colors for his hair and face. He nearly has five parts for his hair alone, while at the same time it only takes two parts to make each of his legs.

Honestly, I could just build his head and be done with this kit and I'll still be happy!

I filled the creases and wrinkles in the Joker's face with a GM-02 "Gray" Gundammarker and wiped away the excess ink with some diluted cleaner.

I did the same technique with a GM-03 "Brown" pen too for the lips. I then came over those lines and painted the lips with red acrylic.

For giggles, I used my rapidoliner to set where I'm going to paint the Joker's irises/pupils in his eyes, which I came back and painted green when I filled in his eyebrows.

I did some more finishing touches with the gray Gundammarker and weathering it into the creases of his hair.

The outlines in the teeth set my borders for painting, which I colored with a mix of yellow and white paint.
If I have to call it a 'mistake' my lines for his teeth came out a little too strong (even though this is the gray pen) because I did this AFTER I painted them and not before. It's something I can fix as I go on with the rest of the model.
